Dicovering Your Calling and Intents in LIfe

INSPIRATIONAL BOOKS

Two inspirational books set out to address the numerous challenges of life and guide people on how to understand God’s intentions for their lives, authored by a seasoned banker, Adolphus Areban Abraham, would soon hit the bookshelves  nationwide.

Titled, “Return to Canaan” and “Arrows of Jacob’s Red Stew”, the launch of the two books billed for Saturday, March 23 at Algate Congress Resort, Abacha Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, coincides with the author’s 40th birthday anniversary. One of the books, Return to Canaan, a hundred and nineteen paged book divided into nine chapters, is meant specifically to help people who have lost focus in life to rediscover and recognize their calling and return to the place where they would have satisfaction rather than jeopardize their future and that of those around them. Return to Canaan, specifically teaches that, although man first strives to satisfy the basics of life before other aspirations, it must be noted that whenever man finds himself, the need to satisfy his aspiration can only be met by God.

“You may impatiently take steps towards meeting those needs but whatever step you take and whichever manner you take it, God remains the ultimate sources of satisfaction of those needs”, the author stated in the book. The writer stated further that, “…it is a the gift of God for a man to work and eat  the fruit of his labour. So any ill-gotten wealth is vanity and can diminish. That is important for us to know that we can be rich through the power of God for ‘it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth.” The author, who figuratively refers to God’s intention for man as Canaan, biblically explained that in the book that Canaan is a “land of promise where the they would eventually return after being scattered …”

Laden with Bible references to give the readers a spiritual insight into the book, Return to Canaan will guide you on how to gain understanding of God’s intentions, how you can work towards those intentions and how you can harmonies your intentions with that of God. The steps to take, the possible challenges you will encounter and their antidote, have also been addressed in the book. Therefore, if it is your intention to prosper and live within God’s will or make money and be strikingly rich, or better still to make name and become a great man as well as be happy and be blessed while blessing others, Return to Canaan, will guide and lead you to whatever your intentions in life are. The book seeks to help you realize that your destiny may not lie in that job your doing or the situation you find yourself right now.

The second book, Arrows of Jacob’s Red Stew, on the other hand, is set out to review the various challenges we face as ambitious young men and women who desire to be celebrated in our chosen fields.

“It is a lamentation for those that have worked hard enough to earn a place at the top of their chosen endeavours but by the manipulation of unseen hands, have not attained their full potentials. It is a chronicle of what the "Star Child’ faces" on a daily basis trying to attain his goal.” More importantly, Arrows of Jacob’s Red Stew, a 166 paged book with seven chapters, that dwell specifically on the biblical well known story of Esau and Jacob, will help you identify your level of success in your chosen career, remind you of your dreams and aspirations in life as well as let you know things you should do to avoid living a life without making impacts.

More importantly, it is stated in the book that, “…We have no power of our own. Our strength is in the Lord and we must learn to give God His place in all our victories… An attitude of respect for God and others around you will ensure that when you survive the Jacobs of this world, you will truly be alive and well to enjoy the fruits of your labour.” Both Return to Canaan and Arrows of Jacob’s Red Stew are written in a simple-to-understand English that would be easily absorbed by the average person.
