This Detroit man, has a perfect attendance record at his engineering factory, and embarks on his herculean daily hike in rain, snow or sun.

James Robertson - Detroit
Earning just £7 an hour, James can't afford to buy a car instead he decided to walk.He was brought to public attention over the weekend in the Detroit Free Press, and kind-hearted readers started a fundraising campaign - and have already smashed the original target of £3,300.

You will find the page on GoFundMe. It has raked in over£102,000 ($154,000) in donations by Tuesday morning. His story has really inspired thousands of people. Kevin LeMelle, a contributor remarked, "Thank you for inspiring me and hopefully tons of other people to persevere in the face of adversity. You are a true American hero."
Touched Betty Blanchard, a donor, said: "We could use more men like James Robertson in this world."

The mastermind of the fundraising, Evan Leedy, a 19-year-old said the effort had "skyrocketed into more than just a car." He wrote on the page: "Every penny will help James in any way that he needs it." He said he is talking with the founders of two other GoFundMe pages for James in order to pool all the money raised.

Todd Wilson, James boss at the factory explained that James has a work ethic that would put anyone to shame. Said he: "I set our attendance standard by this man. I say, if this man can get here, walking all those miles through snow and rain, well I'll tell you, I have people in Pontiac 10 minutes away and they say they can't get here — bull!"

James, who has been walking from Detroit to Rochester Hills spends his time away from work resting.

"I sleep a lot on the weekend, yes I do. I can't imagine not working. I just get it from my family. It's a lot of walking, I know."

James responded, "Are you serious?" when told about $30,000 had already been raised on his behalf.
