The lawsuit filed by Apple against Samsung doesn't seem to be coming anywhere near "ending" anytime soon. Matter of fact this banter has reached another level; The Korean giant Samsung has been ordered to pay $290 million for " infringing on patents", to Apple.

The lawsuit filed by Apple against Samsung doesn't seem to be coming anywhere near "ending" anytime soon. Matter of fact this banter has reached another level; The Korean giant Samsung has been ordered to pay $290 million for “infringing on patents", to Apple. 

Its no longer news that the court found Samsung guilty on counts of infringements on Apple's patents for which Samsung was naturally to cough out a whopping $1 billion as fine. However, this was reduced to $599 million after reconsideration. Just recently, the Korean giant now has to pay $290 million, (or $290,456,793) for infringing on additional Apple patents. Whew!

Steve Jobs Apple had demanded a $380 million fine. Some quarters are of the opinion that Samsung should probably throw a party because the court didn't agree to that. Samsung had only estimated a $52 million, not the whopping $290 million amount apple slammed on them. The final amount now stands at just under $890 million for Samsung. At the moment even though it appears Samsung is churning out more devices, and hence making more money things aren't too good for them.

On the issue both companies had something important to stress.

Samsung Galaxy Gear, A Smart Watch

The wearable tech hype is certainly going nowhere but up. Last weekend, I gave in and went to one of the handful of local stores selling the Pebble watch. Not that I was totally excited, but I just had to see how it works. The final verdict is yet to be given, but let’s say it will not blow you out of the water. The Pebble may be at the head of the pack, but others are quickly catching up, and Samsung is certainly contributing to the hype with its Galaxy Gear.We already know a bit about the Galaxy Gear, especially the fact that it is arriving on the 4th of this month – tomorrow! Over the weekend, there was another leak – screenshots of apps and NFC capabilities.

But wait, there’s more!

GigaOm got hold of sources who claim that the Galaxy Gear will have 10 hours of battery life. That’s awfully poor if you ask me, but given the fact that the smartwatch will have (supposedly) a 2.5-inch 320×320 OLED display, that’s understandable. Then again, it was not clear whether that time period includes idle time or only when the watch is in use. I think it’s reasonable to say that it’s the latter.
